Private practice · Stockholm and online

You don’t have to hold it all together alone. Let’s start small, with one session.

I’m Elin Lindqvist, a Gestalt therapist. I work with anxiety, burnout, difficulties in relationships and the way you treat yourself. No judgement, no ready-made advice, no “right” answers. We go at your pace.

Sending a request commits you to nothing: we write to each other first, and payment comes only once we’ve agreed a time.

01 — If this sounds familiar

Sometimes it’s hard to say, even to yourself, what’s wrong

This isn’t a list of diagnoses and it isn’t a test. These are simply the sentences I hear most often at a first session. If you recognise yourself in even one of them, that’s reason enough to come.

  • “There’s a background tension all the time, as if something is about to happen, even though everything is fine.”
  • “I work, I keep going, I get everything done — and inside there’s nothing, and rest doesn’t restore me any more.”
  • “In our relationship we go round in circles: the same arguments, the same words.”
  • “I can’t take criticism, and I compare myself with everyone else and always come off worse.”
  • “I’m the one everybody leans on, and somehow I can’t ask for help myself.”
  • “It feels like my problem isn’t serious enough to take up anyone’s time.”

02 — What I work with

The four things people bring to me most often

Anxiety and panic

Constant tension, the feeling that something bad is about to happen, a body stuck on alert, nights when sleep won’t come. We look at where the anxiety comes from, what it’s trying to protect, and where you can find steadier ground: in your breathing, in your body, in your own decisions.

Burnout and exhaustion

When even ordinary tasks take more than you have, and the weekend gives nothing back. We work on getting your energy back and on seeing where it goes.

Relationships

Conflict, distance, feeling lonely next to someone close to you. We look at the patterns that keep repeating and at what you actually want to say to each other.

Self-worth and the inner critic

The voice that writes off every achievement; the sense of never being quite enough; the fear of taking up space and asking for what’s yours. This can be worked with gently and gradually, step by step, until you stand on your own ground instead of somebody else’s approval.

I don’t diagnose and I don’t prescribe treatment. If it becomes clear in a session that you need medical help, I’ll say so plainly and point you towards the right specialist.

The room in Östermalm

Nothing clinical about it: two armchairs, a blanket, a kettle, and fifty minutes that belong to you alone.

03 — How the work goes

No guesswork: here’s exactly what happens next

  1. 01

    First session, getting acquainted

Fifty minutes for you to say what brought you here, and for me to explain how the work would look for your particular situation. There’s nothing to prepare and nothing to word in advance: you can start with whatever is bothering you right now.

  2. 02

    Regular sessions at your pace

Usually once a week, in person or online, whichever suits you better. A fixed slot is held for you. No homework to be marked between sessions: anything we try is agreed in advance.

  3. 03

    We check in and adjust

Every few sessions we say out loud what’s changing, what isn’t, and where we’re heading. You can tell me at any point that something feels wrong; that won’t spoil the work, it makes it more precise.

  4. 04

Ending is part of the work too

How long this takes is something we decide together: for one person a few sessions on a specific situation is enough, another needs longer work. We talk the ending through in advance rather than breaking off mid-sentence.

04 — About me

I don’t give advice. I help you hear yourself

I’m a licensed psychologist, authorised by Socialstyrelsen, working in the Gestalt approach. Private practice since 2016: one-to-one sessions only, no clinic and no conveyor belt. What matters to me is that you can be yourself in this room — no judgement, no “pull yourself together”, no ready answers, but honest attention to what really matters to you.

I’m in regular personal therapy and group supervision. That’s part of professional ethics and my way of looking after the quality of our work. Confidentiality holds at every stage: what happens in a session stays between us.

06 — Testimonials

What people say after our work together

Published anonymously and with the authors’ permission. Names have been changed and no details of anyone’s situation are disclosed.

“I arrived thinking ‘it’s nothing serious’ and spent half of the first session apologising for taking up her time. Elin never once made me feel that my problem was small. Six months later I am sleeping properly for the first time in years.”

Linnea, 34 · anxiety

“For a long time I put my burnout down to laziness. In our sessions we worked out where my energy had been going, and it turned out the job was not the problem at all. Breathing got easier, and I don’t mean that as a metaphor.”

Mattias, 41 · burnout

“What I like is that there is no ‘just let it go’ advice here. There are questions, and after them I start to understand what is happening myself. Uncomfortable ones sometimes, but never careless.”

Sofia, 29 · relationships

“The most valuable part was not being hurried. For several sessions I just sat there in silence, angry. Elin held that, and that is where the real work began.”

Erik, 37 · a difficult year

“My inner critic has not gone anywhere, but it is no longer the only voice in my head. Now I at least notice when it is the one talking.”

Karin, 45 · self-worth

07 — Common questions

What people ask most often before a first session

Don’t see your question? Put it straight into the booking form and I’ll answer before you decide anything.

It depends on what you bring and on the pace that feels right for you. Sometimes a few sessions are enough to sort out a specific situation; sometimes longer work matters. We talk about it at the first session and come back to it as we go — no rigid frames here and no compulsory “courses”.

Yes. Everything that happens in a session stays between us — that’s a basic rule of professional ethics. I don’t discuss clients with their families and I don’t confirm to anyone that you’re seeing me. If I need to bring a difficult case to supervision, it’s done anonymously, without any detail that could identify you.

That happens, and it’s worth saying out loud: the fit with your therapist affects the work as much as the method does. If something feels uncomfortable, tell me and we’ll look at what exactly isn’t working. If it turns out I’m not the right person to help you, I’ll recommend colleagues I trust.

Both formats work, so choose whichever is easier. In person we meet at the room in Östermalm; online we meet by video call on whichever app suits you. For an online session only two things matter: a place where nobody will disturb you for fifty minutes, and headphones. You can switch format as we go.

You can, and you should. You don’t have to know exactly what to say — finding the words is often already part of the work. Start with whatever is bothering you right now, even if it comes out muddled. We’ll make sense of the rest together.

No. I’m a psychologist, not a medical doctor: I don’t make diagnoses and I don’t prescribe medication. If it becomes clear along the way that you should see a psychiatrist or a neurologist, I’ll say so directly and help you find one. Where medication is needed, therapy and medical care sit well together.
